Loving without Limitations

Love is a wonderful thing. Yet, it can be a frustrating thing. When you are loved, it’s the greatest feeling in the world. When you have been hurt by someone you love, it’s one of the greatest hurts known to man. The Bible gives us a wonderful description of love in 1 Corinthians 13.  True love comes without limitations.  God’s love comes without limitations.  God loves us without putting any conditions upon us.  He loved us before we ever did anything right or wrong.  I aspire to love like He loves.
The Church should be a be a place where people are loved without limitations.  I realize that we are flawed and broken, therefore we love from a flawed and broken soul.  I realize that many of us don’t really know how to love without limitations because we have never received that kind of love from other humans.  Most of us know conditional love.  We’ve been taught conditional love.  We’ve been taught how to get others to love us through what we do, say or offer.  As a follower of Jesus we should love others as God has loved us.
In order to do that, we must first really gain an understanding of His love for us.  Once we do that, we can begin to love others without conditions.
Here are some thoughts on how to love others without limitations:

· Loving someone without limitations requires that I have to lose my prejudices and preconceived ideas about people.
· Loving someone without limitations requires that I give of myself without expecting anything in return.
· Loving someone without limitations requires that I lay down my agendas and plans so that someone else may succeed.
· Loving someone without limitations requires that I may have to put my life on hold or allow it to be interrupted.
· Loving someone without limitations requires that I commit myself to others intentionally.
· Loving someone without limitations requires that I look past my own needs and hurts in order to meet the needs and heal the hurts of others.
· Loving someone without limitations requires that I let people into my life, who may in turn walk out of my life and leave it in shambles.
